At ICL Neurotech Society, we are dedicated to sharing our passion with the wider world. We believe collaboration can drive innovation, especially in a fast-evolving field like neurotechnology. Through our external events, we aim to bring together bright minds from academia and industry to explore the future of neurotechnology. Please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss any future collaborations!
Our Summer Conference brought together brilliant minds from academia and industry for a day filled with talks, panels, and fireside chats exploring the exciting frontiers of neurotechnology.
We were thrilled to host Professor Karl Friston, Professor Andreas Schaefer, Professor Rylie Green, and representatives from MintNeuro, TTP plc, Charco Neurotech, INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, Flow Neuroscience, and others.
The day welcomed people from all backgrounds — tech, science, and entrepreneurship — creating an open, inspiring space for ideas, discussion, where new connections across the neurotech community were formed.
In January 2025, we hosted the London Neurotech Hackathon with NeurotechX, Entrepreneur First, and the London Student Network — a 30-hour lock-in of hacking, coding, and creativity at the Entrepreneur First space in Shoreditch.
Participants tackled two challenges: an Ideation Challenge, where teams developed and pitched original neurotech ideas, and a Capture the Flag Challenge, testing skills in computational neuroscience.
With free food, overnight hacking, and a vibrant atmosphere, the event brought together students and innovators from all backgrounds to push the boundaries of neurotechnology.
Our first symposium of 2024 — and the UK’s first-ever student-led neurotechnology conference — was held in collaboration with UCL on 30th November 2024. The event brought together experts from UCL and Imperial for a full day of talks, panels, and discussions on the latest in neurotechnology.
Our symposium was a hub of groundbreaking insights and innovation, featuring talks from Prof. Clare Elwell, Dr. Ilias Tachtsidis, Mr. Edvards Rutkovskis, Dr. Paul Bentley, Dr. Sadra Sadeh, Dr. Parastoo Hashemi, and Dr. Romeo Racz, who shared their expertise across topics ranging from brain–computer interfaces to therapeutic applications and beyond.
The event also featured a lively careers panel, where Prof. Tom Carlson, Mr. Mike Karim, Dr. Jumpei Kashiwakura, and Dr. Shama Rahman provided invaluable advice for aspiring researchers, academics, and entrepreneurs, leaving attendees motivated and excited for their next steps.
We also hosted an essay competition, inviting students to explore their own ideas in neurotech — and with tickets selling out fast, the enthusiasm around the event showed just how rapidly this field is growing.
